Brazil: Consumer sentiment rises in December, remains pessimistic
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation rose to 75.5 in December, following November’s 74.9 reading. As a result, the index remained below the 100-point threshold, indicating pessimism among consumers.
December’s increase came amid consumers’ more pessimistic assessment of current conditions, while, contrastingly, their views on the future economic situation improved slightly.
