Brazil: Consumer confidence deteriorates in May
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) fell to 75.5 in May from April’s 78.6. Consequently, the index moved further below the 100-point threshold, indicating starker pessimism among consumers.
The headline fall came on the back of a deterioration in consumers’ views of the future economic situation.
