Brazil: Business confidence weakens in the first month of 2021
The Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (FGV, Fundação Getúlio Vargas) industrial business confidence index fell to 111.3 in January from December’s 114.9, which had marked the best reading in over a decade. As a result, the index moved closer to, but still remained well above, the 100-point threshold, separating optimism from pessimism among businesses.
January’s print reflected consumers’ less optimistic views of both the current economic situation and of the future economic situation.
