Brazil: Business confidence hits six-month high in August
The Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (FGV, Fundaçao Getúlio Vargas) industrial business confidence index came in at 98.7 in August, up notably from July’s 89.8, marking the best result since February. As a result, the index moved closer to, but still remained below, the 100-point threshold, separating pessimism from optimism among businesses.
The uptick came on the back of an improvement in firms’ assessments of the current economic situation. In addition, sentiment regarding the future economic situation also strengthened.
