Belgium: Consumer sentiment unchanged in June
The consumer confidence index was stable at May’s minus 9.0 in June. As such, June’s result remained below the index’s long-term average of minus 6.
Looking at the details of the release, consumers had an improving appreciation of macroeconomic conditions but a worsening personal perspective: Consumers’ expectations for the next 12 months with regard to the overall Belgian economy and labor market improved. These positive developments were offset by consumers’ expectations regarding their saving intentions and their financial situation deteriorating.
