Belarus: Industrial output decreases in May

Industrial production declined 4.3% year-on-year in May (April: -7.1% yoy). Manufacturing output, supply of electricity and supply of water all remained in the red. On the upside, mining and quarrying output grew marginally.

Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 0.8% in May, down from April's minus 0.7% reading.

FocusEconomics panelists project that industrial production will shrink -5.7% in 2020, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. In 2021, industrial output is seen increasing 0.8%.
