Belarus: Industrial output contracts at sharper rate in January
Industrial output shrank by 4.1% year on year in January, down from December’s 3.2% contraction. The downturn intensified for the second consecutive month, suggesting that industrial activity is far from recovering from the fallout of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Meanwhile, the trend deteriorated, with annual average industrial production falling 12.0% in January (December: -11.2%).
FocusEconomics panelists project that industrial production will decrease 1.8% in 2023, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. In 2024, industrial output is seen increasing 3.3%.
