Belarus: Industrial output growth ticks up in January–May
Industrial output growth rose to 4.1% in January–May, up from January–April’s 2.3%. The improvement marked the fourth consecutive expansion in production since the start of the Russia–Ukraine war in February 2022, and likely came on the back of a strong base effect.
Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing and mining output rose faster in the first five months of the year, and electricity production declined at a softer rate.
Meanwhile, industrial production in May rose 11.3% year on year (April: 3.8%), bringing average industrial output to -2.1% (April: -5.7%).
