Argentina: Industrial output growth accelerates in August

Industrial output rose 13.8% in year-on-year terms in August, which was a stronger expansion than July's 12.5%. Looking at the details of the release, the reading largely reflected growing output in the manufacture of metal products, textile and automotive and other transport equipment.

On a calendar-adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 0.6% in August (July: -2.2% mom). Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 13.6% in August (July: +11.6%).

Panelists participating in the LatinFocus Consensus Forecast expect that industrial production will expand 10.1% in 2021, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, the panel expects industrial output to rise 2.8%, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
