Argentina: Industrial output dips in September
Industrial output fell 3.6% compared to the same month a year earlier in September, which was a deterioration from August’s 3.1% decrease. The figure was partly due to a deterioration in machinery and equipment production. In contrast, basic metals output dropped at a more moderate rate. Lastly, food and beverages production declined at a sharper rate, while automotive vehicles production fell at a steeper pace than in August.
On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 0.2% in calendar adjusted terms in September, which was below August’s 0.5% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at a two-year low of minus 0.3% in September, contrasting August’s plus 0.4% reading.
