Angola: Inflation increases in June

Inflation came in at 11.2% in June, up from May’s 10.6%. A weaker kwanza and the removal of fuel subsidies in June were the main drivers behind the acceleration.

Meanwhile, the trend pointed down as annual average inflation dropped to 14.2% in June from 15.1% in May.

Lastly, consumer prices increased 1.41% from the previous month in June, picking up from May’s 0.95% rise. June’s figure was the sharpest increase in prices since March 2022.

Inflation is set to pick up in the coming months due to a fading base effect, the removal of fuel subsidies and a weaker kwanza.
