Exchange Rate in Moldova
Moldova - Exchange RateEconomic growth likely moderated in the third quarter after hitting a one-and-a-half year high in the second quarter. Soaring fixed investment, on the back of buoyant construction activity, powered the economy in Q2, which was further buttressed by upbeat household spending. Private consumption seemed to ease in Q3, however, as reflected by subdued retail sales in July–August amid rising inflation through the quarter. Moreover, industrial production stagnated in August, and merchandise export growth contracted in the same month due to faltering European demand. Meanwhile, in other news, the EU approved the disbursement of EUR 14.4 million in budget support to help the new government deliver much-needed reforms and infrastructure projects.
