Exchange Rate in Moldova
Moldova - Exchange RateThe economy grew 0.9% year-on-year in the first quarter, accelerating from Q4 2019’s 0.2% expansion. Although fixed investment growth decelerated from the previous quarter in Q1, it remained the chief engine for growth as household consumption declined on the restrictions imposed at the end of March to curb the spread of Covid-19, while exports fell amid the collapse in international trade. Turning to the second quarter, the economy is set to have shrunk as the full brunt of the containment measures took hold. Retail sales slumped by over a third in April, while credit provision decelerated sharply in April-May, indicating downbeat domestic demand. Moreover, industrial production plunged in April, suppressed by restrictions and the collapse in foreign demand.
