In January, inflation accelerated to a six-month high of 9.9% (December: 9.6%), further above the Central Bank’s 2.5% target. Price pressures will cool from current levels this year, but inflation will remain at more than double the Bank’s target. Restrictive monetary policy will exert downward pressure on inflation. Currency volatility is a risk.
