Vietnam: Industrial production slows in May
May 30, 2012
In May, industrial production grew 6.8% over the same month last year, down from the 7.5% increase recorded in April. The moderation was broad-based, with all main sectors slowing compared to the previous month. In particular, electricity, gas and water supply expanded at the slowest pace in the last four months. A month-on-month comparison, however, does not corroborate the moderation suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded a seasonally adjusted 4.4% over the previous month, which was above the 1.5% rise experienced in April.
