Uruguay: Inflation plunges to three-year low in April
Consumer prices increased 0.50% in April over the previous month, moderating from March’s 0.62% rise. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for housing eased somewhat in April, while prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages were largely stable.
Inflation eased to 6.8% in April below March’s 8.3%. April’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since April 2018. In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 9.4% in April (March: 9.8%).
