United Arab Emirates: Inflation falls sharply in December

Consumer prices fell 0.31% in December from the previous month, broadly matching November’s 0.30% decline. December’s reading came on the back of lower prices for transportation; food and beverages; and housing, water, electricity and gas.

Inflation plunged from 1.3% in November to just 0.3% in December, while annual average inflation fell from 3.3% in November to 3.1% in December.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.3% in 2019, unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 2.6% in 2020.
