Turkey: Consumer sentiment remains in negative territory in August, despite ticking up
Consumer confidence rose to 72.2 in August, up from July’s 68.0. However, the index remained entrenched below the 100-threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among consumers.
The uptick came on the back of less downbeat views on the financial situation of households at present and in the next 12 months. Simultaneously, consumers’ views on the general economic situation in the year ahead turned less pessimistic, while consumers are also slightly more inclined to purchase big-ticket items over the next 12 months.
