Switzerland: Retail sales continue to spiral in May
Calendar-adjusted real retail sales fell 1.7% over the same month a year prior in May, following the 0.8% decline logged in April. May’s decline came on the back of a broad-based fall in sales for both non-food items, and food, beverages, and tobacco.
On a month-on-month calendar- and seasonally-adjusted basis, real retail sales decreased 1.3% in May, contrasting the revised 0.1% increase registered in April. Meanwhile the annual average variation in retail sales fell 0.4% in May from 0.3% in April.
