Sweden: Economic sentiment increases in January
The economic tendency indicator increased to 97.1 points in January from the revised 93.5 points in December (previously reported: 93.3 points). Values above 100 indicate stronger economic growth than normal, while values below 100 indicate weaker than normal economic growth.
The increase in January was largely due to higher confidence among businesses in the manufacturing sector, which was mainly driven by more optimistic production plans over the next three months. Moreover, confidence among service businesses also increased on an improved demand outlook. Weighing on the overall reading, however, was a deterioration in consumers’ views of their personal finances.
