Sweden Economic Sentiment September 2021

Sweden: Economic sentiment eases in September

September 29, 2021

The economic tendency indicator (ETI) decreased slightly in September, easing to 119.9 from 120.6 in August, but still remained at a historically high level. Readings above 100 indicate stronger economic growth than normal, while readings below 100 indicate weaker economic growth than normal.

The slight drop was chiefly due to a fall in the manufacturing subsector’s confidence indicator. Meanwhile, the consumer confidence sub-indicator eased to 107.3 in September from 107.9 in August, while contrastingly, the business confidence sub-indicator inched up to 118.8 in September from 118.5 in the prior month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment increasing 4.3% in 2021, up 1.0 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.2% in 2022. Panelists see private consumption growing 4.3% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 4.0% in 2022.
