Slovenia: Inflation picks up in April

Consumer prices increased 1.04% in April over the previous month, picking up from the 0.34% rise recorded in March. April’s reading was the sharpest increase in prices since June 2020. Looking at the details of the release, electricity, gas and other fuels prices partly drove the uptick, while price growth for clothing and footwear accelerated significantly.

Inflation came in at 2.1% in April, well above March’s 0.1% print. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with the annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 0.3% in April (March: -0.6%). Harmonized prices clocked 2.2% growth in annual terms, accelerating from the previous month’s 0.1% rise.
