Slovenia: Industrial sector loses traction in January

March 17, 2020

Industrial production growth slowed to 0.3% year-on-year in January, from 1.0% in December. The deceleration reflected a sharper contraction in mining and quarrying output and in the utilities supply sector, as well as a slowdown in manufacturing activity.

Meanwhile, average annual growth in industrial production logged 2.5% in January, down from December’s 2.9%.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial output rose 1.7%, contrasting a 1.8% decline in the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 2.9% in 2020, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2021, the panel projects industrial output growth will rise to 3.6%.
