Slovenia: Industrial production slows in October
December 9, 2011
In October, industrial output rose 1.0% over the same month the previous year, which was below September's 2.5% expansion. The October result was mainly driven by a marked deceleration in manufacturing, which expanded a paltry 0.8% year-on-year, as well as a further deterioration in the mining and quarrying sectors. On the other hand, the electricity, gas and water supply category improved. Seasonally adjusted data point to an even steeper deterioration than implied by the annual figures, as industrial production contracted 2.3% over the previous month in October, contrasting September's 1.5% rise. Owing to the weaker October reading, the trend in industrial production continues to point downwards, with annual average growth falling from 5.1% in September to 4.5% in October.
