Slovakia Inflation September 2018

Slovakia: Inflation ticks down in September

October 18, 2018

Consumer prices grew 0.1% month-on-month in September, down from August’s 0.2% increase. According to data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR), the highest increases were recorded for clothing and footwear, and food and non-alcoholic beverages. Price increases were, however, partly offset by lower prices for transport, and recreation and culture. Meanwhile, inflation decelerated to 2.7% in September from 2.8% in August.

The harmonized index of consumer was flat month-on-month in September, following the 0.2% increase registered in August. Harmonized inflation decreased from 2.9% in August to 2.7% in September. Meanwhile, annual average harmonized inflation inched up to an over five-year high of 2.5% in September from 2.4% in August.
