Slovakia Inflation March 2020

Slovakia: Inflation slows in March

April 15, 2020

Consumer prices remained unchanged in March, following February’s 0.1% increase. The reading partly reflected higher prices for clothing and footwear being balanced by lower prices for transport, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

Inflation came in at 2.3% in March, down from February’s 3.0% reading, while annual average inflation remained at 2.6%, matching February’s reading. Meanwhile, harmonized inflation dropped to 2.4% from 3.1% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.2% in 2020, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate, and 2.1% in 2021.
