Slovakia: Inflation rises to over-year high in July

August 19, 2019

Consumer prices rose 0.1% month-on-month in July, matching June’s result. The print reflected higher prices for transport and communications, which were offset by lower prices for food.

Inflation rose to 2.9% in July (June: 2.6%), the highest reading in 15-months, while harmonized inflation climbed to 3.0% (June: 2.7%), a near seven-year high. Meanwhile, annual average inflation remained unchanged at 2.5%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.5% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate, and 2.3% in 2020.
