Slovakia: Industrial production eases in February

Industrial production rose 5.6% on an annual basis in February, moderating from January’s 7.2% increase. Notably, manufacturing, and mining and quarrying activity decelerated compared to the month prior. Meanwhile, supply of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning accelerated in February.

After adjusting for seasonal effects, industrial production increased 0.2% month-on-month in February (January: +1.2% month-on-month s.a.).

Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output climbed to 5.1% in February, up from January’s 4.9% expansion.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.9% in 2019, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2020, the panel sees industrial production growth decelerating to 2.8%.
