Serbia: Inflation edges up in October

Consumer prices rose 0.3% from the previous month in October, following a 0.3% decline in September. According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the increase was primarily driven by higher prices for transport; food and non-alcoholic beverages; clothing and footwear; and housing, electricity, gas and other fuels.

Inflation inched up to 2.2% in October from 2.1% in September, remaining within the Central Bank’s target range of 3.0% plus or minus 1.5 percentage points. Annual average inflation meanwhile inched down to 2.1% in October from 2.2% in September. Core inflation, which excludes prices for food, energy, alcohol and cigarettes, was stable at 1.1% in October.
