Romania: Inflation decreases in October

Inflation eased to 15.3% in October from September’s 15.9%. The reading was driven by a smaller increase in prices for non-food goods. That said, food inflation continued to accelerate.

Annual average inflation rose to 12.3% in October (September: 11.7%).

Finally, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 1.28% in October over the previous month, below the 1.33% increase seen in September.

Our panelists see inflation averaging 9.5% in 2023, which is up 1.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.5% in 2024.
