Poland: Retail sales growth accelerates in November

December 19, 2015

In November, retail sales rose 3.3% over the same month last year, which was above October’s 0.8% increase and marked a five-month high. The reading overshot the 2.1% rise that markets had expected. The acceleration came on the back of better performances in seven of the nine categories that comprise the index, compared to last month, with motor vehicles recording a significant improvement.

As a consequence, annual average growth in retail sales inched up from October’s 0.8% to 1.1% in November, which marked a four-month high.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 3.3% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel also sees private consumption expanding 3.3%.
