Poland: Inflation falls to over one-year low in December

January 15, 2021

Consumer prices rose 0.10% from the previous month in December, matching November's reading. The result largely reflected rising price pressures for transport, while prices for clothing and footwear fell from the previous month.

Inflation came in at 2.4% in December, which was down from November’s 3.0%. December's reading marked the weakest inflation rate since May 2019. Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.4% in December (November: 3.5%). Core inflation fell to 3.7% from the previous month's 4.3%.

FocusEconomics panelists project inflation to average 2.4% in 2021, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 2.4% in 2022.
