Peru Inflation May 2021

Peru: Inflation remains unchanged in May

June 3, 2021

Consumer prices increased 0.27% from the previous month in May, contrasting the 0.10% fall logged in April. May’s figure was mainly driven by rebounding food and beverages costs and a steeper rise in transport prices.

Inflation remained unchanged in May, coming in at April’s 2.4% reading. Similarly, the trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at April's 2.1% in May, while core inflation was also stable, coming in at 1.8% in May, thus matching the previous month’s print.

FocusEconomics’ analysts forecast inflation to end 2021 at 2.3%, up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and end 2022 at 2.3%.
