Panama: Inflation comes in at highest level since November 2021 in February
Consumer prices rose 0.69% in February over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.32% rise logged in January. February’s uptick was the highest reading since March 2015. In detail, the acceleration was driven by soaring prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, utilities and transportation.
Inflation rose to 2.7% in February from January’s 2.6%. February’s figure represented the highest inflation rate since November 2021. Annual average inflation rose to 2.3% in February (January: 2.0%).
