Malaysia: Industrial output growth moderates in January
Industrial output increased 4.3% compared to the same month of the previous year in January, which was below December’s 5.9% increase. The upturn was largely due to a sharper drop in mining and quarrying production.
On a monthly basis, factory output fell 1.4% in seasonally-adjusted terms in January, which was below December’s 0.4% drop. In contrast, the trend improved, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 7.5% in January, up from the prior month’s 7.2%.
