Italy Consumer Confidence August 2018

Italy: Consumer confidence dips in August

August 28, 2018

The consumer confidence index released by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) fell from 116.3 points in July to 115.2 points in August.

The result reflected weaker consumer sentiment regarding both current and future general economic conditions. On the other hand, consumers’ expectations of both their current and future personal financial situation improved slightly in August. Meanwhile, unemployment expectations worsened markedly in the surveyed month, contrasting a moderate improvement in future inflation expectations.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 1.0% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists see private consumption growing 1.1%.
