India: Inflation holds stable in June

Consumer prices rose 0.56% in June over the previous month, coming in below May's 1.65% increase. June's result marked the softest rise in prices since March. The result was driven by moderating price pressures for food and beverages, and clothing and footwear.

Inflation came in at 6.3% in June, matching May’s result. Annual average inflation remained at May's 5.9% in June.

Our panel projects inflation to average 4.8% in FY 2021, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.5% in FY 2022.
