Hungary: Industrial production growth jumps to near four-year high in September

November 13, 2019

Industrial production grew a working-day-adjusted 9.0% year-on-year in September, up from August’s 2.7% expansion and marking a near four-year high, according to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. September’s surge largely reflected marked accelerations in the manufacture of transport equipment and of computer, electronic and optical products.

In seasonally- and working-day-adjusted terms, industrial output rose 3.1% month-on-month in September, contrasting the 1.2% contraction logged in August. Lastly, annual average growth in industrial production increased from 5.2% in August to 5.7% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 3.7% in 2020, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2021, the panel expects industrial output to grow 3.3%.
