Guatemala: Inflation jumps in November

Consumer prices rose 0.44% month-on-month in November, down from the 0.70% increase in October. The print was driven by a steep rise in prices for recreation while housing, food, and transport also became costlier.

Inflation, meanwhile, jumped to 2.9% in November from 2.2% in October; however, annual average inflation was stable at October’s 3.6% in November.

Banguat expects inflation to end 2020 at 4.0%. FocusEconomics panelists see inflation ending 2020 at 3.8%, which is unchanged from the previous month’s forecast. For 2021, our panelists expect inflation to end the year at 4.0%.
