May 8, 2018

In April, consumer prices remained virtually stable, increasing only 0.04% from a month earlier, and contrasting the prior month’s stronger 0.23% month-on-month increase. Prices increased in the month for transport, alcoholic beverages and restaurants, while prices for recreation, food and communications decreased.

Banguat expects inflation to end 2018 at 4.3% and 2019 at 4.5%. FocusEconomics panelists see inflation ending this year at 3.9%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2019, our panelists expect inflation to end the year at 4.1%.
