Guatemala: Growth in economic activity speeds up in October

Economic activity accelerated in October to 3.3% year-on-year from 3.0% in September according to Banguat’s monthly index of economic activity. The result came on the tails of the wholesale and retail trade; transportation; storage and communications; manufacturing; and agricultural sectors.
Annual average growth in economic activity inched down from 2.9% in September to 2.8% in October.
Guatemala GDP Forecast
Banguat expects growth of between 3.1%–4.1% in 2019. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see growth of 3.2% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2020, our panelists predict growth to accelerate to 3.4%.
