Guatemala: Economic activity picks up pace in January

Growth in economic activity accelerated from a downwardly revised 2.8% expansion in December (previously reported: +3.4% year-on-year) to a 3.4% increase in January. Higher activity in the transportation, storage and communication; private services; manufacturing; and agriculture sectors drove the expansion.
Annual average growth in economic activity edged up to 3.3% from 3.1% in December.
Guatemala GDP Forecast
Banguat expects growth of between 3.0%–3.8% in 2019. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see growth of 3.1% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2020, our panelists predict growth to accelerate to 3.0%.
