Greece: Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level since February 2022 in February
Harmonized inflation fell to 6.5% in February below January’s 7.3%. February’s result represented the lowest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and for transportation grew at a softer rate in February. Moreover, prices for housing and utilities decreased at a faster pace.
The trend was unchanged, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at January’s 9.4%, matching February’s level. Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 6.1% in February, from January’s 7.0%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.20% from the previous month in February, contrasting January’s 0.47% fall. February’s uptick was the sharpest increase in prices since September 2022.
