December 10, 2018
Industrial production contracted in October, recording the first fall since February. Industrial output dropped 1.1% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms. The fall contrasted September’s revised 1.8% increase (previously reported: +2.0% year-on-year). The result was driven chiefly by reduced mining and quarrying production, and manufacturing output.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production contracted 6.4% in October, notably contrasting September’s 4.5% rise. Annual average growth in industrial production fell from 1.1% in September to 0.8% in October.
