France Consumer Confidence June 2022

France: Consumer confidence records worst reading since July 2013 in June

June 28, 2022

Consumer confidence came in at 82.0 in June, down from May's 85.0. June's result marked the weakest sentiment since July 2013. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the 100-threshold—its long-term average—indicating sustained pessimism among consumers. The fall came on the back of a broad-based deterioration across all subcomponents. Specifically, consumers' views of the general economic situation and inflation over the next 12 months decreased significantly.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 2.9% in 2022, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 1.6% in 2023.
