France: Business confidence improves in the final month of the year

Business confidence came in at 93.0 in December, up from November's 92. Consequently, the index moved closer to, but still remained below, the 100-threshold, which represents its long-term average..

With regard to demand, manufacturers’ personal and general production expectations improved markedly from the previous month. Moreover, employment intentions ameliorated from November. Meanwhile, although firms’ perception of new export books turns less pessimistic in December, their views of overall orders books slumped from the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment growing 7.3% in 2021, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, the panel sees fixed investment growth at 4.3%.
