Euro Area: Unemployment rate stable at all-time low in December
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was stable at Novembers all-time low of 6.6% in December.
Six economies had stable unemployment rates in December, including Italy. Eight economies saw their unemployment rates decrease, including Germany and the Netherlands, while five economies saw their unemployment rates increase, including France and Spain.
Significant disparities in labor market conditions between core and periphery countries persist. Spain (13.1%) and Greece (11.6%) are the economies with the highest unemployment rates. At the other end of the spectrum, Germany (2.9%) and Malta (3.2%) have the lowest unemployment rates.
