May 10, 2018
In April, urban consumer prices rose 1.52% from the previous month, accelerating from March’s 0.99% increase. April’s increase was driven by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Urban inflation continued its descent in April, slowing to 13.1% in April from 13.3% in March—marking the ninth consecutive slowdown and the lowest figure since May 2016. Urban core inflation remained unchanged at March’s 11.6% in April. Meanwhile, annual average inflation decelerated to 23.7% in April from 25.3% in March.
