Ecuador: Inflation hits over five-year high in November

December 6, 2021

Consumer prices increased 0.36% over the prior month in November, accelerating from October’s 0.21% rise. November’s rise was largely driven by higher price pressures for transportation and housing and utilities.

Inflation accelerated to 1.8% in November from 1.5% in October, logging the highest inflation rate since April 2016. Accordingly, the annual variation in consumer prices improved, coming in at minus 0.1%, following October’s minus 0.3%.

FocusEconomics panelists project inflation to end 2022 at 1.4%, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate and at 1.2% again in 2023.
