Ecuador: Consumer prices, on an annual basis, fall in September

Consumer prices came in flat over the previous month in September, following a 0.1% month-on-month drop in August. Lower costs for education, utilities and transport offset higher prices for recreation and culture, health, and clothing and footwear.

Meanwhile, consumer prices, on an annual basis, fell in September after rising 0.3% in August. Lastly, the annual average variation in consumer prices remained at 0.3% in September.

Panelists participating in the LatinFocus Consensus Forecast expect inflation to end 2019 at 0.3%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel projects inflation ending 2020 at 0.6%, which is also down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection.
