Czech Republic: Industrial production contracts for fourth month running in November
Industrial production fell 3.2% year-on-year in working-day adjusted terms in November, which followed a 0.4% slip recorded in October. The downturn was mainly driven by a steep decline in manufacturing output, particularly of machinery, transport equipment and vehicles. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying industry shrank for the 11th consecutive month in November, while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector swung back to contraction.
In seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial output fell 1.1% in November, following October’s 0.1% dip. Lastly, the annual average variation in industrial production swung from a 0.3% expansion in October to a 0.1% drop in November.
